Silencio de Miros 2018

La Viña de Rafael is Bodegas Peñafiel's most highly-prized vineyard estate, located at an altitude of almost 1000 m, under the watchful gaze of Peñafiel Castle, lying on the Ribera del Duero's esteemed Golden Mile. These vineyards bring forth Silencio de Miros, a wine handled with the utmost care since the grapes were harvested and matured in French oak barrels, with a view to always seeking balance, elegance and maximum respect for the terroir. Behind the cork of each bottle lies hidden a wine that appears an attractive Picota cherry red with violet hues on the rim. Its nose is fresh, combining aromas of redcurrants and plums with a feint hint of raisins. Right away new aromas come to the fore, led by subtle touches of violets and damp nuances of truffles and undergrowth. The roasted coffee suggestions indicate its gentle passage in French oak wood. On the palate, it's powerful, elegant and vivacious; it perfectly intertwines a lactic sensation with the creaminess of ageing and the spicy notes that bestow extra complexity. Discernible on its finish is a very distinctive, light astringency, unequivocally reflecting the character of La Viña de Rafael.
