Belondrade Quinta Apolonia 2023

Quinta Apolonia is the second white wine from Belondrade. It is the result of blending two wines that are different although from the same grape varietal: the Verdejo. The first is produced from grapes grown in the bodega's youngest vineyards and is slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks under temperature-controlled conditions. The second (almost a third of the coupage) is from wine left to mature for three months on its lees. This Verdejo wine reveals most clearly the vegetal aromas characteristic of the varietal used in its production, as well as stone fruit (peach and apricot) and a pleasantly refreshing citrus background. On the palate all the richness of the heat comes through. Here is a generous, enveloping, glycerine-touched wine, creamy and unctuous, with a fine acidity that provides a distinct freshness and long-lasting aromas. We are certainly encountering here a most individual perception of the Rueda Verdejo (although for marketing reasons it does not fall within the D.O) from one of the most highly acclaimed wineries of the region that is definitely worthwhile discovering.
