Viñas Viejas is the flagship of Hacienda Solano, a wine made from vines of more than 60 years of family ownership. The freshness typical of the strong thermal contrasts and the more than 800 meters of altitude, is felt in every sip of this wine, giving it a remarkable elegance among the reds of the Ribera del Duero. The delicate vines, treated without systemic ones, require a manual harvest in small boxes and a meticulous selection of the grapes that allow only the best fruit to reach the winery. In order to preserve the unique character of each plot, the vinifications of each small piece of land pass separately. Both the pre-fermentation maceration and the fermentation itself take place at a controlled temperature to preserve all the freshness of the fruit. The fur hat is soaked to prevent rusting and to ensure accurate removal. Once converted into wine, it will continue to be in contact with the skins for a week, prior to its 14-month aging in barrels and 4 months of rest in the tank, prior to bottling, which will guarantee its perfect harmony. We are dealing with a floral wine, elegant and with a good body. With each new vintage the oak seems better integrated and the fruit somewhat fresher. The set is of a great balance and elegance, with the chalky tannins derived from the limestone floors giving it a stately bearing. The spicy and smoky aromas intermingle with those of wild berries adorning a round and mature palate. It perfectly shows the style of the house, which seeks the typicality of the riverside wine without giving up showing the natural freshness of the old vines planted under the cool climate of La Aguilera. Its minerality and extraordinary structure predict a great future, while its austerity and silky touch speak of balance and refinement.
