Mauro is a perfect example of the strength and character of red wines from Castile. Its great potential for laying down, together with its power and elegance, make it an excellent choice for people with their own private wine cellar. An essential wine, and great for keeping, Mauro is one of the key names in the world of Spanish wine. It was the first wine produced by Mariano García (in charge of the technical running of Bodegas Vega Sicilia for 30 years) when he decided to set up his own personal project, Bodegas Mauro, in 1998. Despite its location, the winery does not come under the classification of the Ribera del Duero appellation due to where the boundaries are drawn around the Tudela del Duero area.
