Nosso is a single varietal Verdejo that's outstanding and has a character of its own. Its grapes come from vineyards owned by Bodega Menade on slopes beside the River Duero at an altitude of over 700 metres, and worked under strict organic principles. Natural treatments are used on its stony soils of a calcareous-clay composition, such as infusions and whey in order to protect the fruit against possible diseases without harming the estate's biodiversity. The grapes are harvested manually with the utmost care. In the winery the aim is to keep intervention to a bare minimum so as not to interfere with the goodness provided by the vineyard itself. Fermentation is achieved through wild yeasts and the malolactic afterwards occurs spontaneously, bestowing creaminess and reducing the acidity. Following a few months on its lees, the wine is bottled with a minute amount of carbon that will protect it during its stay in the bottle. This process explains why Nosso, despite being a wine in which no sulphur is used in its production, can offer such a clean and crisp aromatic display. Appearing a delicate straw colour, a nose emerges that's highly charged with fruit, combining hints of peach, green pineapple, white flowers and hay. On the palate it has perfect balance, as its oily feel is enhanced by elegant notes of candied lemon peel and fennel. The elegance of lime embellishes a wonderful passage through the mouth which takes us to a bitter, herbaceous finish, so typical of this varietal. It's a great wine that makes for a long sip or a leisurely-paced drink, a wine which is charting a new horizon for Castilian whites.
