Suertes del Marqués El Lance is a red wine from the Valle de La Orotava appellation of origin, in Tenerife, Canary Islands. This wine is a blend of several native varieties of the island, mainly Listán Negro, along with a small proportion of other varieties such as Vijariego Negro, Tintilla, and Baboso Negro. The Lance de Suertes del Marqués is a faithful reflection of the rich wine diversity of this volcanic region.
El Lance winemaking follows traditional methods with a focus on highlighting varietal expression and the unique character of the terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand and, after careful selection, fermented with indigenous yeasts in open tanks. The wine is then aged in foudres and used barrels of different sizes to allow a subtle evolution and maintain the freshness and authenticity of the grapes.
Visually, El Lance presents a ruby red color of medium intensity, with violet nuances that reflect its youth and vitality. On the nose, it is deep and complex, exhibiting aromas of fresh red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry, intertwined with notes of wild herbs, spices, and a distinctive mineral background that evokes the volcanic soils from which the grapes come.
In the mouth, Suertes del Marqués El Lance is elegant and balanced. The acidity is lively, typical of high-altitude wines from La Orotava, which gives it a notable freshness. The tannins are soft and well integrated, and the wine offers a silky texture that leads to a long and persistent finish, with an aftertaste reminiscent of spices and volcanic terroir.
Lance is a wine that can be enjoyed now, but also has aging potential. It is an ideal companion for meat dishes, such as grilled red meats or traditional stews, and also harmonizes well with aged cheeses.
