Cal Pla Negre 2022

Cal Pla is a red Priorat. Even if they were to change the label of this wine, you wouldn't be deceived. With a pleasant nose and smooth texture, it's easy to drink and extremely helpful in refuting the unfounded myth that wines from this denomination are hard, difficult and expensive. Not true at all. Cal Pla is a black fruit Priorat — ripe, black and quite jammy depending upon the vintage, but fresh. It also exudes a classic, traditional air, since it has a touch of the olden in a good sense of the word, without becoming rustic. It's accessible and very drinkable. Black fruit and notes of India ink —the Porrera Cariñenas are seemingly dominant— crowned off with a subtle minerality. It's mature, direct, serious, meaty and intense on the palate. The Priorat definitely doesn't deceive.
