Clío 2021

Clío is not just one of Jumilla's greatest wines, its arrival on the market meant a real before and after for Murcia's wines. It's a concentrated and profound wine made primarily from Monastrell grapes grown in century-old vineyards, with the addition of a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes, harvested caringly and placed in small crates, are treated in the winery too with consummate care in order to deliver in due course a dense wine that's an intense Picota cherry colour. It releases aromas of ripe black fruit, almost like jam, to which the oak adds notes of toasted coffee and cocoa, followed on next by hints of liquorice and spices. On the palate, it's flavoursome and robust, having plenty of structure and with sweet, concentrated and luscious tannins. It has a long, seductive finish, with touches of spicy jam. A powerful wine that suits decanting and one which will pair up superbly with fine meats and game dishes.
